Augusta is the second largest and the oldest city in Georgia. Augusta is approximately 150 miles east of Atlanta and 60 miles southwest of Columbia, SC. Situated on the Savannah River, Augusta borders South Carolina and is the heart of the Central Savannah River Area, or CSRA. The CSRA has a population of nearly 900,000 people and encompasses 13 counties in Georgia including Richmond and Columbia counties, and 5 counties in South Carolina.

Fort Gordon and the Army Cyber Command Center
Fort Gordon is home to the US Army Signal Regiment and host to a multi-service community of Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine and multinational forces. Fort Gordon employs more than 15,000 military personnel and more than 7,000 civilians, making it one of the largest employers in the area with an economic impact of nearly $1.4B. The Army Cyber Command Complex is under construction and should be complete in early 2019. Cyber Command will employee more than 1,2000 soldiers and civilian contractors by late 2020.
Educational and Medical Community
Augusta's educational and medical community includes Augusta University and Medical College of Georgia, Paine College, Georgia Military College and Augusta Technical College. Augusta University's Medical College of Georgia is the nation’s 9th largest and 13th oldest medical school. In addition to the university, there are several other well-known medical facilities in the area including the JM Still Burn Center at Doctor’s Hospital, which is the largest burn center in the country.
Manufacturing
Augusta is home to world-class firms such as Club Car/EZ Go, Proctor & Gamble, International Paper, Kellogg's, US Battery, Quad/Graphics, John Deere and Starbucks. In 2017, expansions are planned for ADP and Unisys office complexes and a new manufacturing lines will be added to Textron Specialized Vehicles.
